1. Privacy & Your Personal Information

When you place an order or submit a research request, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and delivery address. This information is used only to process your order and communicate with you about it.

Payment security: All payments are processed through PayPal or our credit card gateway. We do not store or have access to your card details.

Your data: We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except where required to fulfil your delivery (e.g., Australia Post).

Email marketing: If you’ve subscribed to our mailing list, we use MailerLite to send occasional updates about new maps and historical content. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

Cookies and tracking: Our website uses essential cookies (WooCommerce) to process orders, Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, and Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. These tools collect anonymised usage data. No personal information is shared with advertising platforms beyond what is standard for these services.

We respect your privacy and handle your personal information with care, following Australian privacy standards.

2. Terms of Use

By using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and all applicable laws. Any dispute relating to this website or your purchase shall be governed by the laws of the State of Victoria and the Commonwealth of Australia.

All map designs, restorations, website content, and photography are copyright Print Modern. Source material is drawn from public archives, institutional collections, and private collections. Print Modern’s restorations, reproductions, and digital treatments are original works and remain our intellectual property. This site or any portion of it may not be reproduced, duplicated, or copied without our written consent.

3. Custom Research Service

Our custom research service is free and carries no obligation to purchase.

Here’s how it works:

  • Submit your location request using the research form on our website
  • We research available historical maps for your suburb, street, or property
  • Within 3 business days, you’ll receive a personalised selection page by email showing available maps with images, dates, and pricing
  • You choose what you’d like — or nothing at all. There’s no pressure.
  • No payment is taken until you confirm your selection.

Please note: not every location will have available historical maps. If we can’t find suitable options for your area, we’ll let you know promptly.

4. Pricing & Payment

All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable.

We accept credit cards and PayPal.

The price confirmed at the time of your order or invoice is the price you pay. Pricing changes do not apply to orders already placed.

International orders: Buyers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or import fees levied by their country. These are not included in our pricing and are outside our control.

5. Production & Shipping

Print Modern is a made-to-order business. Every map is produced specifically for you.

Production times:

  • Unframed prints: approximately 2–3 business days
  • Framed works: approximately 1–2 weeks (allow up to 10 working days)

Shipping:

  • All orders are sent via Express Post with tracking
  • You’ll receive tracking details once your order has been dispatched
  • Estimated delivery: 1–2 business days (metro), 2–4 business days (regional)
  • International shipping is available — timeframes vary by destination

Every order is carefully packaged to ensure your map arrives in perfect condition.

6. Returns, Refunds & Australian Consumer Law

Your consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010). Your statutory consumer rights apply regardless of our policies.

Faulty or damaged goods

If your order arrives damaged or faulty, we’ll make it right. Email us at hello@printmodern.com.au within 7 days of delivery with a description of the issue and photos showing the damage or fault. We’ll respond within 2 business days and arrange an appropriate remedy.

  • For a major failure: You choose the remedy — a replacement or a full refund.
  • For a minor failure: We may choose to repair, replace, or refund at our discretion.

If your parcel arrives visibly damaged at the door, please note this with the delivery driver before signing for it.

Change of mind

Print Modern products are custom-made to order. Because each item is produced specifically for you, we do not offer returns or refunds for change of mind.

Not as described

If your product materially differs from what was shown or described at the time of purchase, contact us at hello@printmodern.com.au and we’ll work with you to resolve it.

7. Colour & Material Variations

Screen vs. print colour: An exact match between screen and print is not possible. Screens use light (RGB) while printers use ink (CMYK). We take great care to ensure our output is as faithful as possible, and customers consistently tell us the finished product exceeds their expectations.

Timber frames: Print Modern frames are handcrafted from Victorian Ash — a natural timber product. Minor grain variations and natural markings are characteristic of the material, not defects. Every frame is inspected before dispatch.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The date of the most recent update is shown at the top of this page.

Changes do not apply to orders already placed. If you’ve already submitted an order or confirmed a research selection, the terms in place at that time apply to your transaction.
